Tsukamoto Kamacco Donabe Rice Cooker (1go)

Crafted in Mashiko Town, Tochigi Prefecture since 1947, this compact donabe by Tsukamoto Pottery prepares 1-go (180mL or 6oz) of rice. Featuring a dual lid, the clay pot warms gradually and retains heat to deliver fluffy, flavorful results. Both lids double as serving bowls, with the inner lid perfectly designed to measure 1 cup of rice. This single-serving donabe is an ideal size for cooking cheese fondue, steamed vegetables, or mini hot pots.

• Hand wash with mild dish soap and warm water using a soft sponge and wipe dry
• Air dry upside down before storing to prevent the clay from absorbing moisture
• Do not use abrasive cleaning products
• Season before first time use

Before first time use, we recommend seasoning your donabe. The process is called “Medome,” and it extends the life of the pot by sealing all the tiny pores to create a protective barrier that prevent cracks and leaks.

• Wash and dry the donabe thoroughly with the bottom positioned upward
• Fill with 8 parts water and a bowl of cooked rice
• Stir gently and heat slowly over low flame until the rice thickens into a paste-like mixture
• Remove from heat and let the pot cool for at least an hour
• Empty the porridge (perfectly edible!) and rinse well
