Crafted from breathable Iga clay sourced in Mie Prefecture, this donabe contains naturally carbonized pores that distributes heat evenly and cooks rice to fluffy perfection. The dual-lid design functions as a built-in pressure cooker, preventing boilovers and trapping steam for optimal texture and flavor. Outstanding heat retention keeps the rice warm and soft after removing it from the stove. This clay pot also excels at boiling, baking, steaming, and roasting, making it ideal for preparing soups, stews, and hot pots. Each comes equipped with a stone trivet for safe tabletop use and a wooden shamoji spatula for easy serving. Ideal for preparing 3-go (cups) of rice.

• Hand wash with mild dish soap and warm water using a soft sponge and wipe dry
• Air dry upside down before storing to prevent the clay from absorbing moisture
• Do not use abrasive cleaning products
• Season before first time use

Before first time use, we recommend seasoning your donabe. The process is called “Medome,” and it extends the life of the pot by sealing all the tiny pores to create a protective barrier that prevent cracks and leaks.

• Wash and dry the donabe thoroughly with the bottom positioned upward
• Fill with 8 parts water and a bowl of cooked rice
• Stir gently and heat slowly over low flame until the rice thickens into a paste-like mixture
• Remove from heat and let the pot cool for at least an hour
• Empty the porridge (perfectly edible!) and rinse well
